How is DERMACARE meant to be used?

Our treatments are designed to be used once daily right before bedtime and after you have washed and dried your face

Please ensure that your skin is not wet when applying the treatment.  It will still work, but not as well.

It is normal to experience increased redness for a few days when starting your treatment while the medicine starts to work.  If you notice your skin feeling dry or irritated reduce dosage to every other day.

Remember, consistency is very important! Try to make it a routine.

What ingredients do you use?

Your prescription is individually formulated based on Dr. Alex J’s consultation.

Dr. Alex J. usually recommends a blend of a multiple of the following active, FDA-approved, ingredients: Tretinoin, Niacinamide, Clindamycin, and Azelaic acid.

The base formula is a DERMACARE proprietary formula that works as a mild moisturizer and to administer to active ingredients efficiently with minimal irritation.

What cleanser should I use?

Cetaphil is a good choice. It is designed for all skin types.

What about protection from the sun?

DERMACARE treatments should be applied nightly for best results.  If you formulation has Tretinion, it is advised not to use it while in the sun as it can increase your skin’s sensitivity.

Sun is the #1 cause of skin damage, so get yourself some good SPF+ sunscreen.

My skin is irritated, what should I do?

Please share your routine with our friendly staff and our doctor will recommend the best approach.

Secondly, you can reduce the frequency of your use of Dermacare.  Go from applying once a day to every other day until your skin gets used to the prescription.

What results can I expect?

Every patient is different, but typically you will see significant results within 4 – 6 weeks, if not sooner.

If you have Tretinoin in your regiment don’t wax any facial hair including your eyebrows.

Does DERMACARE treatments reduce signs of aging?

Dr. Jovanovich recommends Tretinoin (the same active ingredient in Retin-A) as the best prescription medication to fight signs of aging & fine wrinkles.

Please indicate anti-aging as your skin goal when filling out the form.

Do you prescribe acne pills?

No. Our formulations work so well that we find fewer people will need prescription pills. If you need prescription pills however, we will refer you to a doctor in your area.
